We Remember Because We Owe Them

There are moments that should stop you in your tracks. 

This is one of them. 

Because the life you’re living right now 
was paid for by young men storming a beach under fire, 
watching their mates fall beside them, 
and pushing forward anyway. 

Some never came home. 
And the ones who did carried it with them for the rest of their lives. 

That is the cost. 

That is what was given. 

And that is why this day matters. 

Not for noise. 
Not for protest. 
Not for politics. 

For them. 

Because without what they did, 
none of what we argue about today even exists. 

So today, take a moment. 

Remember what was given. 
And show it the respect it deserves.
